Small objects, big ideas

The silicone can lid reminds us that while only part of plastic can be recycled, metal cans are 100% recyclable and can be recycled over and over again. The lid makes cans reusable after opening, just like plastic bottles — helping us choose cans more often and reduce plastic waste.
The wooden yoyo is a reminder that fun doesn’t have to be disposable or digital. It’s made from natural material, it lasts for years, and it can be reused endlessly. Learning yoyo tricks means practicing skills, not consuming more products.

1. Summary
Task
Write a summary of The Explorer by Katherine Rundell, focusing on the chapters we read in class:
Flight – The Green Dark – The Den – The River – Food (Almost) – Fire – The Raft – Maiden Voyage – The Ruined City – Flight Home – Another Kind of Exploring – Epilogue: 12 Years Later
Instructions
Write between 120 and 150 words. Use your own words, and focus on:
- the main events
- the characters’ journey
- what changes from the beginning to the end
2. Circular Economy & Personal Action
We learned about circular economy, and as an example we learned how to make our own bioplastic using eggshells.
In The Explorer, the characters survive by using what they find, avoiding waste and respecting nature.
Task
Write a short paragraph (60–80 words) explaining one concrete example of how you can take part in the circular economy, inspired by:
- The Explorer
- our workshops (e.g. air pollution detector, eggshell bioplastic)
- the idea of “another kind of exploring”
Language requirement
Try to use:
- one zero conditional
- one first conditional
- one second conditional

Come Funzionano i Compiti Settimanali
I compiti per la settimana successiva vengono pubblicati progressivamente, in base al lavoro svolto in classe.
L’aggiornamento finale, se necessario, viene sempre pubblicato il venerdì sera (vedere la data Published).
Questo sistema serve a dare agli studenti la possibilità di completare i compiti un po’ alla volta durante la settimana, così da mantenere una pratica quotidiana dell’inglese anche fuori dalle lezioni.
Tutti i compiti devono essere caricati entro il lunedì successivo, per permettere all’insegnante di correggerli prima della lezione.
Evitare di rimandare tutto alla domenica sera aiuta a lavorare con più calma e costanza!
